Finding "THE ONE"...The Perfect Wedding Gown, that is!

You found the perfect guy, now it’s time to find the perfect gown. Choosing the ideal wedding dress is one of the most important decisions while planning your dream wedding. It may be intimidating, as all eyes are on you and you need to make sure that you’re stunning on your big day. As overwhelming as it is, here are some tips to help you choose the perfect wedding gown for you.

1. Time line - One of the most exciting parts of planning a wedding is buying your gown. Bear in mind your time line. Women tend to overlook this important step, but order your gown at least 6-8 months in advance and arrange for a fitting two weeks to a month prior to your wedding. Giving yourself ample time is essential especially if alterations are to be made before the wedding since this takes time, as well.

2.    Budget - Identify what your options are and set your budget. If your finances allow it, go to a couturier for a made to order gown for you. But for the budget-conscious, you don’t need to fret since there are a lot of beautiful gowns out there which you can purchase off the rack or rent out.

3.    Choose the right design for your body shape – Wedding gowns come in all shapes and sizes and finding the appropriate one for your body shape can be daunting. So, if you’re tall and thin, you have the ideal body type. You may wear anything from soft, flowy materials to lots of trimmings. Petite women will look best in an A-line gown and to look taller, go for an empire-cut chiffon gown. A V-cut neckline with detailing and a simple bodice is most flattering for full-figured women.

4.    Location - When buying a wedding dress, take into consideration the location of the wedding. If you want your wedding in a church, you may choose any gown that you prefer. But if you’re planning to have a beach wedding, choose a gown where you can be comfortable the whole day. Pick one that is shorter in length and has a lighter material.

5.    The “Second Opinion” - As much as possible, bring someone with you whom you trust when it comes to choosing the right clothing. It may be your mother, sister or best friend. Although you think you have found THE dress, it won’t hurt to get a second opinion of a trusted companion. After all, it’s your endeavor for people to see you as lovely as possible, so it’s important to ask the point of view of another person.

Why it's important to have some "alone time"

While I was checking out the promos in Smart Parenting, I came across the question "Why is it important for you to have some alone time in a week?" and it actually made me think...and think real hard. One, because I don't even remember the last time that I had an alone time and more importantly, do I really need to have one, being the busy homemaker that I am? As I reflected on my life now, I realized that I was tired, quite unhappy and was unsure of what I really want. Physically tired because of all the work that I had and have to do at home (mind you, I'm a homemaker, as well as, a home-based worker). Quite unhappy because I feel unsatisfied with what I have accomplished so far..I feel I needed more..more of what, you ask? I actually am quite unsure...and that made me realize that I do need to have some alone time... Having alone time, I figured, would let you rediscover who you were, what you used to want and what you really want in life. It lets you be who you really are without having to impress anyone, without worrying what to do next, without having anyone judging you if what you're doing is right or wrong. At that point in time, there's only you. Having that important time allows you to reflect on the person that you have become and the person that you want to be. It gives you the chance to "cleanse" your mind for the necessary decisions that you have to make...having that alone time, now I am sure, would somehow "make you whole" again...and would give you the energy and the right mindset to face the craziness that you're going to encounter once that time is up. So, do we really need to have an alone time? Just think of this, even Jesus Christ had His "alone time" before making the most important decision in His life...If He deemed it important to have that alone time, don't you think it's important for us to have one, too?

For the Love of My Life: DVB Jr ni KDB

You by The Carpenters

You are the one who makes me happy
When everything else turns to gray
Yours is the voice that wakes me mornings
And sends me out into the day
You are the crowd that sits quiet
Listening to me
And all the mad sense that I make

You are one of the few things
worth remembering
And since it's all true
How could anyone mean more to me
Than you?

Sorry if sometimes I look past you
There's no one beyond your eyes
Inside my head wheels are turning
Hey, sometimes I'm not so wise
You are my heart and my soul
My inspiration
Just like the old love song goes

You are one of the few things
worth remembering
And since it's all true
How could anyone mean more to me
Than you?

Rewards of spending quality time with your kid

My son, Bon and I were watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and their theme was about Bestfriends. After that episode, my Bon said, "MAMA, YOU'RE MY BESTFRIEND" and then hugged and kissed me...I almost cried...I told him he's my best friend, too (It's true, he is my bff!). He smiled and then hugged and kissed me again...This time my tears fell...

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, BON!
